Newt's New Coat

Hey a new coat for Newt. With winter here a tiny Chihuahua needs to stay warm. And why not be fashionable while doing it. This handsome Burberry style tartan is sure easy on the eyes and goes so well with Newt's coat and harness. Made locally by Brenda of Brenda's Dog Dudz.

Newt Calls Road Trip "Success"

Well Newt is back, safe and sound in Nova Scotia. All is good in her world. She did seem to enjoy the road trip though. We covered many States and 2 Canadian Provinces (New Brunswick and Nova Scotia). Of all the States Newt enjoyed Maryland and New York State the best. Maine was considered cold and Pennsylvania slightly odd. Perhaps camping the last 2 States did not help her form a good opinion of those places.

We have learned that Newt is generally a trustworthy driver, though may sometimes sleep at the wheel or start to daydream, or even start biting any available noses. We also learned that Newt almost always has the sneaky ability to get into places that dogs aren't supposed to go, such as the beautiful Longwood Gardens . She did not, however, get to enjoy the Walters Art Gallery or Baltimore Aquarium, instead spending the day in luxury at the Petsmart Hotel.

So enjoy the pictures that Newt took of her trip in the newly added album link on the sidebar. And fully appriciate the beauty of the DeLorean that Newt found in a parking lot.

Newt votes Brewster, NY as "An Awesome Place"

Newt is currently on her road trip along the eastern seaboard of America. So far of the many places she has stopped to have a smell of, Brewtser, NY has been voted most awesome. Particularly it is the Citgo gas station that has lead to this great award for Brewster.

Pictures of Newt's adventure will appear once a suitable upload station is found.

Stay tuned for Newt's take on Baltimore, MD. Could it also be "Awesome?" Who knows.

Newt at Cleveland Beach

Posted by Picasa

So Newt isn't a traditional beach dog, but then again she is also only 7 months old so she hasn't figured out what she is just yet. The water is too cold, the wind is too much and there are too many people and dogs. But the beach does have sand and sand is fun. Digging holes and eating yummy sand makes the beach worth while for Newt. It doesn't make her evening with an upset belly any fun though.

Newt at Keji

Posted by Picasa
We headed to Kejimkujik for a little camping. For those that don't know it is in Nova Scotia and is a great National Park. I think that Newt actually enjoyed most of the camping trip this time around (rather than Graves Island). But most of all she loves her tent.

Newt says "Stay away from my froggie"

Posted by Picasa
Newt loves her froggie. She loves everything about him. He squeeks when squeezed, he has tastey toes and a lovely bit of fluffy hair on his head. And at one point he had great eyes. So remember, stay clear of froggie unless you want some trouble.

Newt, not cute?

So Newt did not win the cutest pet contest. That is a shame. But since the winner was a generic looking white cat, I can only assume that the ability to win this contest was based upon how many people you knew and got to vote for you. Too bad for Newt, but thank you to all Newt supporters out there. She is still darn cute in our eyes.

Newt and her cone

So Newt had her little operation yesterday. Now she won't be able to be a mommy dog, but will instead lead a casual carefree life of leisure. This of course means the dreaded cone of annoyance is on her head for the time being. The poor little dear can't wait for this ordeal to be over and done with.

Canada Day Camping?

So Newt took the family camping over the Canada Day Long Weekend. Was that a good idea? Not according to Newt. At least any of the outdoor stuff seemed like a bad idea to our little Newt. Fire wasn't an issue but cold damp weather sure was. Once the tent was setup and the family got into it for the night, little Newt sprung to life. The tent, it seems, is just like a big travel crate, which we all know is full of fun. Also, getting to sleep with the people is a big treat, at least for Newt. For the people it was a night of scratching, snoring, chewing and random movements. Ohwell, she needed a little bit of fun.

There will be pictures up on the photo site.

Cycling with Newt

While in Toronto we bought a fancy backpack. It allows Newt to be carried in luxury while we cycle. In other words she gets to nap while we cycle. This was a quick trip to Tim Horton's.

Newt Likes Umbra

What more is there to say. Newt enjoys the Umbra store in Toronto. She is a dog that enjoys design.

Travelling Dog

A trip to Toronto Newt? Sure thing. Thanks to Westjet Newt got to travel in style, as in onboard the airplane. And what a good traveller she is. And how was Toronto for Newt? Well it lacked enough grass nearby for her liking, but the shops and stores were all very kind to her so that was a big plus. And she made some friends at Umbrella Pets.

Newt says, shop at Umbrella Pets while in Toronto. They have good stuff.

A cold beach day

Okay so it wasn't a whole day on the beach in the cold. But we did stop at Cleveland beach (our favorite coastal beach near our home) for a nice walk. The waves were high (as was the tide), the wind was blowing and the fog was in. Still Newt liked the sand and walked with authority the entire length of the beach. She even ate a few pieces of seaweed. It was quite fun watching her walk on the rocks as well. She is very sure footed, which is great to know for future hikes.

Returning to the warm car though was the high light of the trip I think and the deep sleep on the way back to the house was also quite good.

Hey Camera, Watch Out!

A crazed Newt is a dangerous thing. All cameras must beware. Ears back, glazed eyes and soon to be chomping teeth all appear when the camera is near!

Newt - Defender Against Lambs

Sometimes stuffed lambs attack the bedroom. It is the duty of all small chihuahuas to find and destroy all such wooly toys. Beware lambs, beware the destroyer they call Newt.

Puppy Preschool

Sunday was Newt's first trainign class. Well it was puppy preschool so mostly a socialization thing with a little work on sitting. Newt doesn't like to sit it seems. Well she likes to sit on our laps, but not the floor. It was funny to see her in a class with puppies half her age but 4 times her size. Needless to say she wasa little scared, though ended up playing well with another tiny pup named Lily.

Upon arriving at home we found that Newt can in fact sit. But she chooses where she will do it. She tends to like soft comfy places like her bed or our bed. Well it is a start anyway.

Evil Brooms Must be Stopped

While outdoors is not normally our favorite place, our fancy little Newt decided that it was worth braving the great outdoors in order to save the world from the threat of the broom.

Hey, I'm beginning to think that Newt is just a sleepy pup. Any chance of getting some playtime in Newt?

Hey, a warm sunny afternoon, Dairy Queen and a sleepy puppy. What a great day. Hey Newt, why the floppy ears?

Great weekend

So this was agreat weekend for Newt. Saturday was a shopping errand day for us and we decided that Newt should come along. We have a nice comfy carry bag for her and she sat in it without saying a word. She came into every store except for the food store (Bulk Barn) we went into. It was great.

Sunday was finally the start of great weather over here. It was super warm so we decided to give Newt her first really long walk and went to a secluded park. She probably walked for more than an hour with a few breaks here and there. And she was great as we had a Dairy Queen treat, soaking the sun up. We are determined to make her an outdoor lovin dog yet.

(pictures will follow)

A few days in....

So little Newt is settling in nicely. Her schedual is starting to get set which is great. And she has two modes of operation: cute cuddly princess mode and super hellion. Both are great, though super hellion seems to come out at 10:30 pm. Oh well.

Welcome Home Newt

Well Newt is home. We had a busy day playing with her at her and her family for a bit before heading out on the road. A few visits later with freinds and family and we finally made back to our house. She is definitley a bit nervous right now and doesn't want to be left alone for very long. Hopefully over the next few days her more adventurous spirit will come back out and we will be playing an running. The weather is looking great for the next week.

New Stuff

So Newt has some new stuff (of course without a Newt just yet). A fancy pink (yet tiny) Nyla Bone, and a new leash and harness. Her home is getting all ready for her arrival.

Coming soon

Okay so Newt isn't here yet. But soon, oh so soon.
