Newt is getting prepped for her first dog show

Tomorrow we will be headed to the Halifax Kennel Club's Winter/Spring dog show in Halifax, NS. Newt is entered as an exhibition dog in the Rally-O competition. That basically means we will be sitting around an watching and if there is a chance maybe stepping into the ring to see what the fuss is all about.

Newt's too new in the Rally-O game (as are we the owners) to bothering entering the competition for real this time, but we felt it would be a good chance for Newt to get accustomed to the sights, sounds, and smells of a dog show.

But of course that means tonight will be bath, comb and nail clipping time. Our girl has to look her best. I will try and post pictures of the procedure later on and hopefully get some pictures at the show.

Christmas Wishes (a little late)

Sometimes you have to wonder why dogs put up with us. Oh yeah, they can't work the can opener.

I love my bone

As a dog, all I can say is that a pink Nyla Bone is a good thing.

Swimming Newt

All dogs like to jump in the water on a hot summer day. Well Newt may not like jumping in so much, but it sure was a nice way to cool down. The life jacket helps when you are really small and not used to swimming just yet.

Hey a New Car for Newt!

Yes, Newt decided she wanted a new car. So her and Elizabeth worked out a deal to trade in the 1988 Volvo Wagon for something much more shiney. Welcome Mazda 5, a true giant cavern for Newt to explore.

Random Chi Meetings

So Newt and Elizabeth and I were on our bike ride last night when we happened upon a woman walking 2 chihuahuas. Well a quick bark from Newt's backpack perch meant we had to stop. So out she popped and met up with Lexi and Logan, 2 very cute chihuahuas. A quick play session, some treats and we were back on the road.

I guess you never know where friends might pop up.

Doggy Class

So Newt is having blast at doggy class it seems. This new format of higher level training is far more fun than regualr sits and stay. Now it seems more like play with mats and sticks and less leash. Plus there are always lots of treats.

At first it was odd being ina class with 2 Rottweilers and a Yellow lab when your dog is only 4 lbs. But those other dogs are great and Newt doesn't pay them much mind.

This class will last through June and hopefully will lead to Newt learnig actual useful tricks or at least party tricks for the fun and amusement of all.
